You are invited to join the Blake High School Instrumental Music Department in their 2016 Summer Band and String Orchestra Program. This year’s Summer Band and String Orchestra will consist of six weekly sessions. Band sessions are Tuesdays June 21 & 28, July 5, 12, 19, 26 and String Orchestra are Thursdays June 23 & 30, July 5, 12, 19, 26. The location this year will be at Paint Branch HS Band room, 6:15-8pm.
The goal of our Summer Music Program is to strengthen performance skills through sight reading and ensemble rehearsals. These skills will make each individual musician a better musician, and will help make the student musicians a stronger contributor to their school music program. There is no performance, we know families are out vacationing at the end of July and may miss a session or two.
Blake High School Summer Band and String Orchestra program is open to all students in grades 7-12. We welcome and encourage all student musicians to take advantage of this opportunity. The sessions are led by the top music educators in MCPS, to include Sean Kirchoff (Paint Branch HS), Scott Cameron (Blake HS), Marie Crenwelge Tilkens (Banneker MS), Jen Van Petton (RPMS/PVYO/MCYO), and Andrea Cameron (Frost MS). We are excited to have such a strong staff to help assist our students reach their goals.
The entire cost for the program is $90 per student.
